The first scarf is said to be worn by Egyptian Queen Nefertiti under her crown, 1350 BCE. Through history, they were worn by men in various parts of the world to represent military rank.

Improvisational dancer Isadora Duncan used one as a prop in her legendary performances, and of course a hip scarf is the trade mark of us Belly Dancers.

To me, they are about being true to myself, living the unique path meant for me and encouraging others to follow theirs as well.

Scarves have been a staple of my 'look' since 2006, the year my life blossomed:

By day I cultivated a rewarding career as a Business to Business Sales Representative specializing in giftware. By night I was a live performer with a shimmy addiction.

As I settled into my new life, I searched for fashion accessories to carry my passion with me but couldn't find any suited to my tastes and price range.

After spending most of my adult years learning and working with the best in these worlds, it was time.

Hello, my name is Amadea the Founder of Chiftitella Designs.

I come from rural Northern Ontario where I raised myself, determined to succeed against all odds.

When I was 24 I moved to big city Toronto, for the first time free and living in my own name after my divorce. By day learning what I'm capable of professionally by cultivating a rewarding career in sales at head offices of some of your favourite home décor and giftware suppliers. During the evenings I was in clubs on the Danforth immersed in the sounds, culture and movement language of 'Oriental' Belly Dance.

In 2010 I pursued a work opportunity and moved out West to Vancouver BC, where I now call Home with my beloved cats Diana and Minerva.

I've worked with and learned from the best of both worlds and bring my professional values of honesty, integrity and accountability.

HONESTY

You will notice some designs are by other artists. Inspired by the collaborative nature of chiftitelli rhythm in celebration of the multifaceted talent in our community. All featured artists get paid and proper credit for their work.

INTEGRITY

Feel good about how my pieces are made. Employees are paid fair wages, work regular hours with paid breaks.

ACCOUNTABILITY

For the love of humans, animals and our planet my pieces are custom made in Canada and all handbag hardware is vegan.
